Common questions

What counts as a match?

Red: the sentence uses the same words as a page or paper on the web. Yellow: it is close in wording and meaning. Quotes with a citation are not counted. Select a sentence to see the source, cite it, or rewrite it.

Is the AI score proof?

No. It is an estimate of how much the writing reads like text from an AI model. Plain, formal or non-native writing can score high; fixing spelling mistakes raises it. Use it as a prompt to check, not as a verdict.

Where are my documents?

On your device only. Cite has no account and no cloud. Deleting the app deletes them.

I paid, but the app says free

Open Settings in the app and tap Restore purchases while signed in to the same Apple Account. Top-up words follow your iCloud Keychain, so they appear on your other devices too.

How do I cancel?

Subscriptions are managed by Apple: Settings app > your name > Subscriptions (iPhone, iPad) or App Store > your name > Account Settings (Mac). Refunds: reportaproblem.apple.com.

Can I open PDF and Word files?

Yes: PDF, Word (.docx and .doc), text, Markdown, RTF, OpenDocument and HTML. Pages files: export them as PDF or Word first. A scanned PDF has no text to check.
